We are looking for a proactive and client-focused Account Officer to join our growing team and serve as the primary link between our company and our valued clients, as well as ensuring the accuracy and integrity of The Brooks Africa’s financial records and reporting. This role involves maintaining financial compliance, managing budgets, and supporting decision-making through detailed financial analyses. The Account Officer plays a critical role in optimizing financial operations and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • β– Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions.
  • β– Manage accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger reconciliation.
  • β– Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • β– Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
  • β– Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • β– Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including filing VAT, PAYE, PENSION, and other statutory returns.
  • β– Implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • β– Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing findings.
  • β– Analyze costs and suggest measures to improve financial efficiency.
  • β– Provide financial insights to support strategic decisions.
  • β– Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • β– Assist operational teams with financial insights for project planning and execution.

Qualifications

  • β– Proficiency in accounting software and ERP system (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300, Odoo, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • β– Bachelor/Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • β– Qualification in a recognized accounting body (ICAN, ACCA) is a strong advantage.
  • β– Minimum of 3years accounting experience, ideally in real estate, property management, or construction.
  • β– Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, Nigerian tax regulations and accounting principles.
  • β– Analytical skills for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • β– Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • β– Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
  • β– Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • β– Proactive and results-driven approach.
  • β– Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
